Is it safer to fly or drive when pregnant?

Travel Info
I am 71/2 months pregnant here in California planning to move to Georgia. Do you think it's safer to fly for 6 hrs in the air or drive 3-4 days on the road?

Travel Tips
Both have their risks. You are probably better off driving, as you can stop often and move around, which is essential. Make sure you stop early enough to eat well, unwind, and get a full night's sleep.

Flying at 7 1/2 is not a huge risk, but it's enough of one that I, personally, would avoid it. Pressurized cabins can induce labor in women who are sensitive to the changes in atmospheric pressures. Have a safe trip! :) Source(s): Myself: R.N. / Master's in Nursing
Other Travel Tips
statistically it is safer to fly. you are 37 times more likely to be injured in a car accident then in an airplane accident.
as for health wise, ask your doctor there are restrictions on air travel with pregnant women. depending on your specific health needs.

the first answer is right, except, most airlines won't allow you to fly if you are 8mo. pregnant. They've had to head to the nearest hospital one time to many and it screws up many flight plans. If your moving anyway, just fill up the car, and take it slow. Get out and walk around for 5 min. every two hrs. stretch out when you can, and no more than 12-15 hrs a day. Increase chance of blood clots due to restricted circulation.

if ur 7 1/2 months pregnant i would say drive, because there are some health hazards to your baby if you fly if ur that pregnant
