Scared of colombia?

i am going to colombia June 16th
i have been on planes before but i am scared bc i am going over seas from florida!it's about three hours away but i am so nervous! what should i do to calm myself!

Being nervous on a plane is very normal. Perhaps if you considered the statistics you would be more comfortable?

For example, you are 7.5 times more likely to be involved in a fatal auto accident (single trip) than a fatal airline crash (single trip). You probably don't give it a second thought when you get in a car, but it is true that you have a much greater chance of something happening on the way to the airport than in the air.

Perhaps you would feel comfortable about "flying over water" if you considered that only 6% of airline accidents occur during the "Cruise" portion of the flight. The other 94% occur during takeoff, climb, descent, landing. So if you are comfortable flying over land, be comfortable flying over water as well since you will be cruising.

Final statistic, the chance of being involved in a fatal airline crash for a single flight is 1 in 6.3 million. You have a higher chance of getting an aneurysm, car crash, stroke, struck by lightning (if you do in fact live in Florida), etc, etc

Don't worry though, I knew all these statistics too but was still uneasy flying at first, but now my career forces me to fly a few times a month so it is second nature

Watch a video of airplane crashes. In all seriousness. There is nothing to be nervous of. I've flown from Miami to Bogata many times. It is a fun flight. Try looking out the window and identifying different geographical areas. You will travel over Cuba and Jamacia to name a few. Sit back and enjoy.
I'd be more afraid of arriving than making the trip. To calm yourself when on the plane...think how good it is at the moment and then the danger you will be in when you arrive.
