Will dramamine work? |
Travel Info I'm taking a flight and I am deathly afraid of flying...will this work or should I ask my doctor for something else? Travel Tips Dramamine works well for some people, plus it's inexpensive and easy to find in most grocery stores. If you have tried it before and gotten relief from nausea, I would suggest you take it again. Make sure you take it at least a half hour before you board the plane. Promethazine is a common prescription anti-nausea drug that you can also take in pill form. I have used both and this drug seems to work better for me. Both medications will make you sleepy, which may be a plus for you if you have a lot of anxiety. I think it would be a good idea to talk to your doctor about it. Source(s): I am a nurse. Other Travel Tips thats for motion sickness not being scared trying listening to music that helps me = ) Dramamine will keep you from puking, not from being scared. You might try meditating instead of medicating. But if you want a quick fix, then you might try a small dose of Valium. (But please DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL on the flight if you take anti-anxiety meds, such as Valium!) Dramamine usually makes me a bit sleepy. You could ask your doc for a low-dose anxiety medicine for traveling (something Like Ativan). It can relax you and make you a bit tired, but you won;t be zonked out or anything. |
