hiya firstly can i say please don't OD on drink before the flight cos they just won't let you on! i flew for the 1st time last year when i went to egypt. all in all i ended up flying 6 times during that holiday. believe me when i say you have nothing to worry about. it's 1 of the best experiences ever. i love the take off and landing. better than any white knuckle ride. just relax and enjoy. have a lovely holiday too.
dont drink on a plane you will get booted off!!
I only fly drunk to, i hate flying!! i watch all these air disaster shows which doesn't help!! It's actually very boring too!! You can get scrip drugs for this fear, but my advice is still a few stiff ones prior to!!
Enjoy your holiday.

Try not to drink before boarding the plane as if they think you have been drinking or may be intoxicated they may not allow you to board, It's better to drink on the plane if you have a straight through flight.

If it is a long haul flight try to stay up until you are due to fly - and then you can sleep on the plane. Drink lots of Water and try to get up and move around while in flight.

If its a short-haul flight - drink lots of water (if its a straight through flight) have a drink on the flight (or two)

You can also let them know when checking in that it is your first time on a plane and often they will help to re-assure you. If you would like to and they allow it try to get a window seat or if you are really scared get a seat on the aisle and perhaps the seat at the front or at the emergancy doors as you will have more leg room.

You can also take a book or something to read along with you it helps to pass the time

Don't worry about it too much Flying is much safer then driving -
DONT DRINK YOU WILL DEHYDRATE AND IT DOESN'T HELP JUST GET ON PLANE AND ONCE YOUR IN THE AIR YOU'LL ENJOY IT/ THE SUN IS ALWAYS SHINING UP THERE
It was my first time on a plane last year since I was a kid of about 12, that was 41 years ago, and I must say planes are a lot better now then they were in those days. This time I did a nine and a half hour flight to the Caribbean and yes, I did feel tentative but I got on the flight in the right frame of mind without having alcohol and I was fine. Just look upon it as a new achievement and do it without alcohol. This way you will set yourself up for more enjoyable holidays abroad in the future. Good luck and enjoy yourself. I will definitely be taking more holidays abroad soon.
