I'M GoING ON HOLIDAY TO MAURITIUS IN AUGUST. WHERE ABOUTS DO THE INJECTIONS I NEED GO? |
Travel Info ARE THEY IN THE ARM, SHOULDER, ETC. THANKS!!!! Travel Tips Does it really make a difference where they go?! I know there are extra-tender spots but jags only go in deltoid muscle (below shoulder) or hip generally - thigh if lots needed in a hurry. I give shots every day - some people say sore muscle for a day or two, others say no side effects at all - just think about the amount of needles and suffering associated with tetanus, hep A and typhoid (never mind the fatality risks) and accept the needle!! Then you can relax and have a great holiday. Others I`ve been to a number countries requiring inoculation, especially in Africa After two weeks I was like a pin cushion. All were in my upper arm, none hurt, I think it was the typhoid, paratyphoid, cholera cocktail that made me feel a bit rough for 24hrs. I`m sure you won`t need as many as I had.. P.S. You might need to start taking malaria pills before you go, if so don`t forget to keep taking them on your return. Have a good time. Mauritius is not a yellow fever destination and is malaria free. You had better take typhoid , tetanus and hepatitus injections (in case) but these are tiny needles in the arm..I have a phobia for needles and I am going there.Your GP surgery can give you the lowdown. There are no serious injections to be taken ,don't worry or I would not be going. It will depend on the type of vaccination it is, Call your local Health Department and they will able to tell you and maybe give them to you cheaper. Also, always check with you family practice doctor.and check the price and absolutely what you need. Do not take any chances. I also worked for an agency with a State Dept. of Health. I was a military wife and worked with families preparing for deployment. No injections are needed for either Mauritius or Seychelles. The planes get disinfected before landing in either place. I am assuming you are flying from England and are a British citizen. |
