I am wanting to go to Hawaii for my 10th anniversary. Where do I go? |
Travel Info I have always wanted to go to Hawaii and I think we are actually going to go. There are so many places to go and so many different ways to do it. Do you recommend a cruise, island hopping, or just one island? I want a nice romantic vacation that is relaxing. This will be the first time away from our 3 girls in a while. What do you recommend? Travel Tips I would recommend 2 weeks if you have the dough, especially if you're not sure you will be able to go back anytime soon. Do a 3 island trip of 5-5-4 days. You should fly to Maui spend 5 days there. Stay in Lahaina, it is on the dry side of the island but is where most of the locals are and is easy to get around the island from there. Go to the Old Lahaina Luau...book online it is often sold out weeks in advance. Take the road to Hana it is beautiful. Then go to the big island and see the active volcanoes and go to Kona Joe's coffee plantation and theMauna Loa macadamia nut plantations. Your final island should be Oahu. A trip to Pearl Harbor is moving. Make sure you are there on Wednesday or Saturday so you can go to the flea market at the aloha bowl. great bargains. Find Lin's market and eat some fresh pineapple in ground dried plum (yummy). Shave ice on any island is a treat. A day or two on the norht shore is awesome. You're biggest expense will be food. If you rent a condo you can save a few bucks and have breakfast in your room. There are many local stores to shop at. You will absolutely love the restful life there. My wife and I love it there. We're planning a return trip in 2 years. Aloha and have a great time. Feel free to send me a message and I'll give you a few ways to save some money and some places to stay and when to go. Others You have to go to Honolulu. Also go to a small island for peace and quiet. Make sure you don't go to the hawaiin island that starts with a "K" (can't remember name) i've heard that there are sharks there. I find that cruises aren't as romantic or as relaxing b/c you're always "on the go"! Plus your time is rather limited to about 6-9 hours per port... so you don't get to see much if you're not on one of their expensive excursions.... What about a fabulous all-inclusive, five star resort on the island of Maui???? I say Maui because it is far less commercial, busy and touristy than Oahu. That island tends to be quieter and more romantic than Oahu, where Honolulu exists.... a MAJOR international city. HAVE FUN! Sounds like you deserve it! :) Don't go to Honolulu. It's located on Oahu, and that is where most tourists go the first time they go to Hawai'i. It's congested and commercial. If you want a more quiet place, go to Maui and stay at any of the hotels on Kaanapoli (sp)Beach. It's beautiful there. Maui My sister and her husband just took a Hawaiin cruise. They take cruises every couple of years or so, but enjoyed this one immensely. They got to see all of the islands, and got to spend a couple of days on a couple of different islands. This way you get a taste of ALL of Hawaii. She said the cruise was actually close to the cost of a hotel for a week on just one island. On the other hand, a friend went to Honolulu and enjoyed his time there, but now wants to make ANOTHER trip to Hawaii to see what he missed on other islands. If it were me, I would do the cruise. They weren't "rushed" and got to see many wonderful sites in a short amount of time. Aloha... |
