Travel Tips
My best suggestion to you, is to make sure you have lots of savings before hopping on that plane. At least $7000 -10,000, especially if you plan to bring a child. I can tell you this because I'm born and raised here. The cost of living is pretty insane, I don't know what it's like in the UK but in Hawaii it's pretty tough to get by on one income. My boyfriend and I (w/ 2 kids) struggle with a combined income of $70,000+. The good news is that I'm pretty sure you could land a job as an account here. Not trying to scare you off from moving to Hawaii, but I work in the welfare office and see too many people who move here and not realize how expensive it here. I think as long as you have a decent savings and a back up plan in case things don't work out ,you'll be fine!
The weather & people are great. As far as that other person's comment about us not liking foreigners, we don't like the foreigners that come here and expect us to change the way we think and act...it should be the other way around. Most people in Hawaii are very compassionate and "not self-centered" . Good luck! And Hawaii No Ka Oi (Hawaii #1) Source(s): Personal experience

Other Travel Tips
its totally expensive.. they don't like foreigners (and that includes mainlanders from the US)except as tourists to spend money and leave...its a very closed culture..I am sure there is need for accountants but I would look for another place.
My grandfather was raised there from 3 years to 21 years and hated it, he left and never went back and did not encourage the family to go to even visit there either.
You could totally find an accounting job as long as you have a college degree. Its a really nice place with good people and you'd have a great time. Rent is really expensive though so make sure you have enough money for living expenses. And, public schools are not the best, but Hawaii does have the best private schools. I'd suggest you set your daughter up in private school like mine if you want her to have a really good education.
I recommend you read Toni Polancy's book "So you want to live in Hawaii". This book really helped us to learn the basics about the islands before we moved here. Also, if you have any questions, please feel free to email us.

PS: I have a 21 year old daughter, she is going to school in London this semester... small world.

I agree with Humu...the best book I have read on the subject is:
"So You Want to Live in Hawaii", by Toni Polancy.

It will answer pretty much any question you might have on the subject of relocation to Hawaii.
