Hawaii natives? |
Travel Info hey i heard they called the samoan/hawaiin natives..."pineapple chuckers" what is that! Travel Tips Hey you people who answered before me are all idiots. He was asking what "pineapple chuckers" meant and you guys are way too sensitive. Others It's just people being racists. I am a lifetime resident of Hawaii and have never heard of that term. However, it may go back to the pineapple plantation days when almost every nationality of people was here for cheap labor (though they were mainly of japanese, chinese, or filipino decent). Any pineapple pickers would essentially be a "pineapple chucker". If you were white however, you would have been a luna (hawaiian word for supervisor) hence the derogatory aspect of the term "pineapple chucker". Hope this helps.... who's 'they'??? Never heard such an expression here in the islands--- plus the Samoans and Hawaiians generally weren't the ones working in the fields. Those were mostly Filipino. I think you are just talking story! It's a shame that morons like you repeat derogatory comments because you think it might get a laugh. You are sad. just listen to the last guy that's mest up. Neva dis da local boi's. Neva write anyting like dat again U lucky boo!! I grew up in Hawaii, but never heard the term. I've heard many derogatory terms for different ethnic groups but this one's new. i'm not sure who 'they' are in your question and samoans and hawaiians should never be confused or put together with a slash like they are interchangeable, unless you don't value your life.... |
