Hawaii! Where to go? |
Travel Info Ok have finally decided to go to N.Y and Hawaii for our honey moon in august this year, however I know Hawaii is made up of several islands think will only have time for one. So which one?!! Want GREAT beaches, nice white sand. Dont want to be packed in like a sardine there so somewhere that offers some quieter nice beaches too. Would like to have a few excursions, bit of night life so not just beach only. Can you reccomend where to go then??? Also is there alot of rain in august in hawaii and is it expensive? thanks! Travel Tips Each of the Hawaiian Islands has its own personality and character. So, knowing what type of person you are and what you like to do will help you decide which of the islands you will like. If you like tourists and fishing you should like the Kona area of the 鈥淏ig Island鈥?of Hawaii. If you like solitude, a tropical feel, a rural atmosphere and you don鈥檛 mind rain, you should like the Hilo area of the Big Island. The west side of the Big Island has a few nice small beaches, including black sand beaches. Near Ka Lae, the southernmost point of the island you will find a green sand beach. Big beaches are not prevalent on the Big Island. If you enjoy scenery, hiking, snorkeling, kayaking or surfing and don鈥檛 yearn for 鈥渘ight life鈥?then the oldest of the islands, Kauai is for you. If you are the kind of person who keep a bathing suit, snorkel gear or a surfboard in your car, then Maui is for you, because it has 120 miles of easily accessible and swimmable coastline, more than any other island. If you have an artistic temperament or perhaps you like to get away and write, then seek out the island of Lanai. If you love nature, hiking and solitude, then 鈥渢he most Hawaiian鈥?of the islands, Molokai is for you. You鈥檒l enjoy Oahu if you like beaches, shopping, tourists, high-rises, traffic and don鈥檛 mind a lot of other people. Honolulu is like a tropical version of NYC, or LA as it was in the smog-free 1950's. Source(s): "So you want to live in Hawaii" by Toni Polancy Other Travel Tips The island of oahu has alot of night life, Hanana Bay is no fishing great for snorkeling. Go to Polynesian Cultural Center to see Hawaii when it first started. Go to www.hawaiipictures.com an www.top-ten-hawaii.com for some things to do an great pictures. If you need more sites let me know. God luck an have fun. Do some research of your own hun by going to www.tripadvisor.co.uk on that website you will read reviews of hotels and resorts and get info on what is around to do. I went to Hawaii on a cruise last summer and it was great.. Honolulu is a great city and has tons of beaches.. Maui is also a great place, which you should experience snorkeling there as one of the places is the top 10 places in the world it's beautiful! There's a portugese center that's very interesting also.. 鈥AWAI'I has controlled erupting volcanoes. It isn't good to breathe all the vog though. It is the biggest island, but it doesn't have much. You are lucky that there is a Walmart there! It is mostly dried up lava taking up all of the area. 鈥?MOLOKAI is very small, not much to do. It is dangerous to go into some of the oceans because they have stronger tide that can "drag you all the way to Oahu" and you won't make it all the way to Oahu. It is very friendly there, but there is only one super market. When I visited there, the only super market was closed by the time we arrived, and the next day was a holiday, so they weren't open. We had to find snacks from a Wine and Spirits store. 鈥?OAHU is very nice, it is my favorite island, it is smaller than Maui, but busier than Maui. There are bunches of stores, and a 4 story mall! [Ala Moana Center] It is very nice if you love the city. ..but once again, it is very busy. 鈥?MAUI is very beautiful, it is not to small, and not to big. The only place you can see the sunrise is on Haleakala [House of the Sun] -which is a mountain. Our three biggest stores are Walmart and K-mart, and Costco. We have a Safeway an Starmarket also. Costco and K-mart are right next to the Kahului airport, which is quite convenient. We also have waterfalls, in Hana. But make sure you get up early, it's a long drive. |
