My 3-day in Honolulu. Where to stay?

Travel Info
I am planning to stop in Honolulu for 3 days before continue my journey to Big Island. While in Honolulu, the places that I 'd to visit are Pearl Harbor, Downtown, and around Waikiki. Will enjoy walking & riding public buses while visting those places. Thus, I need to know where is the most ideal place to stay (nothing fancy, with basic ammenities will do - travelling by myself) that will coordinate my visiting between those places that I'd like to visit? Thanks a lot.

Travel Tips
"Outrigger Waikiki On The Beach" is an excellent choice. We have stayed there several times and have been more than satisfied. The restaurant "Dukes" is located there and it is the one eating establishment on Waikiki that is a must, the "Hula Pie" is to die for. Also is Canoes, another fine restaurant overlooking the ocean. It is right next door to the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, the original Waikiki resort right in the heart of downtown Honolulu and the center of Waikiki Beach. Directly across the street is the "International Marketplace" (excellent shopping).

There are less expensive and definitly more expensive places to stay, but for the money, I think it will more than meet your expectations.

I share this information based on personal experience and we visit one or two times a year. Source(s): http://outrigger.com/hotels_detail.aspx?...

we stayed at the hyatt last time, it was great. i think the rates may be a bit higher now though.
i checked out this hotel,
Aqua Aloha Surf Hotel

444 Kanekapolei Street
Waikiki, HI 96815 US
the reviews said it was a clean and comfortable hotel, great deal for money.
it's located approximately three blocks from Waikiki Beach
it has outdoor swimming pool that features cabanas and pool towels, 24-hour guest service agents, 24-hour front desk, tour assistance, bilingual staff, 24-hour coffee service in the lobby, free local newspapers, one-weekly Manager's Reception, wireless Internet access in the lobby and poolside, parking (for a fee), dry cleaning service, business services (for a fee), ice machine, laundry facilities (for a fee), and security. Dining options include the free Continental Breakfast.

sounds pritty decent
for your buck
I would suggest Outrigger and/or their budget chain Ohana Hotels.

For the action Outrigger on Waikiki Beach would be the best. The restaurant / bar Dukes on the ground floor is worth the visit.
go to www.newcenturyworldtravel.com and they are cheaper then i have seen
I just returned from 2 weeks in the islands. I stayed at the Aqua Palms in Waikiki for $100/night. It was close to the Alameda shopping center. We did the tour to Pearl Harbor. Roberts adventures was who we went with. It picked up folks at a few sites. A friend had recommend doing the tour vs renting a car and doing it on our own and she was right. Go early as possible as there are cruise ships that come into town and mob the place. Waikiki was withing walking distance from where we stayed. My sister found even cheaper lodging at thanksgiving but I can't remember where. She found it on line so explore. There is a bus that circles the whole island for $1. It's 4 hours to get around. There are also shopping buses Hilo Hatties and another who will pick you up and take you around the island after of course you shop at their stores! Waikiki has a great outdoor festival each Saturday and it's fun to walk there. Enjoy your trip Aloha
I highly recommend Dukes Hula Pie also!
