Does anyone know of reasonable dining in the Waikiki Area?

Travel Info
I'll be heading to Waikiki May 20-27 for my honeymoon. We're staying at the new Fairfield Waikiki at that new Beach Walk place. I looked up the beach walk place but EVERYTHING seemed so expensive. I'm not planning on spending loads of money while there. Is there anywhere in the area that has great food at a reasonable price? Also for quick lunches... is there many fast food places in the area? One more question... alcoholic beverage prices.. how are they?

Thanks :)

Travel Tips
Just outshirk of Waikiki is Ala Moana Shopping Center. There is a food court with a lots of selection. Price might seems reasonable for tourist areas.

However, there is a Korean food place called Palama Market place, also just outshirt of Waikiki. The plate lunch starts at $5 (including tax). It is next to Don Quijote (formerly known as Daiei). They have another branch in Palama area but it require some driving.

Opposite of Palama Market place is Kalakaua Plate Lunch at the corner of Kalakaua Ave and Makaloa Street. Easy to miss place, but it has Chinese plate lunch that around $5 too. They do sell some burger too, but can't remember the price.

At Don Quijote (formerly Daiei), there are also food places. Quite a bit of selections from Chinese, Korean, KFC etc.

Down farther on Kalakaua Ave, at the junction of King Street, there is Jack-In-A-Box fastfood restuarant.

Wal-Mart (opposite of Ala Moana Shopping Center) has some food stores too. I like to eat the Japanese bento from Hanazen. They offer plate lunch starting from $3.95 (smaller portion).

Inside Wal-Mart, there is a L&L Plate lunch (serve dinner also). Reasonable price for a good portion.

A building (towards moutian) away from Wal-Mart is Mcdonald. This branch has value menu for $1 per item. The one in Ala Moana Shopping Center does not offer $1 menu (from the last time I visited).

As for alcoholic beverage, look for ad on varies stores. This week, Foodland is selling:
- Budweiser, Bud Light, Coors, Coors Light, Miller lite or MGD 30/12oz cans at $17.99 (plus tax of 4.72%).

- Marques De Riscal Tempranillo, Ardeche Chardonnay or B&G Vouvray 750ml at $9.99

- Yellow Tail, Pepperwood or Barefoot California Wines 750 ml 2 for $11

- Samuel Adams or Mehana beer 6/12oz Bottles at $7.9

Waikiki is just like any other city. They have all assortment of stores and restaurants. Fast food to pricey.
I know of getting what you pay for so Jamesons's by the sea is not cheap but you will get great food and all else.
There is also one on the north shore right when you get into haliewa
Food that you don't want to pay alot of money for.....
Fast food is more expensive here but still readily available...

Mcdonalds, Wendy's, Jack in the Box, Burger King, and Taco Bell all fit this bill and can be found near you.

Sit down Eats
Denny's, International House of Pancakes (IHOP), *L&L Drive Inn, *Zippy's, *Kua Aina Sandwhiches, *Big City Diner- Good Eats for a normal lunch price

Evening Meals
*Duke's Barefoot Bar and Grill, Ocean House, *Shorebird (cook it yourself), *John Domini's (higher price but awesome view), *Yardhouse (home of over 100 brews on tap), Matteos, Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Cafe, *Lulu's.

The ones I marked with * are my favorites to go eat at, I live here and I eat at them regularly. John Domini's is more of a dress up special occasion kind of place. I went there for my anniversary. Duke's is a laid back place to go eat, live music and locals frequent the place. Their Nachos are awesome.

As for the alcohol you can buy it at any grocery store, drug store, or corner mart. Prices are set by the stores so a little shopping may be in order to get what you want at the best price.
Local grocery stores;
Foodland, Safeway, Sack N Save, Star Markets, and Times.
Drug Stores:
Long's Drugs
Corner Markets:
ABC-The most previlent of ALL corner markets you can't walk 100 feet without seeing another one. Prices will be higher here.

You can also buy beer, liquor, and wine at WalMart.

If you have any questions about my suggestions then let me know. Congratulations and enjoy!!!
Hi,
I have just back from waikiki after being there probably about 7 times. You can do hawaii on a budget and also blow that budget. You see the americans serve massive meals so my wife and I would sometimes share a main meal and we would both be full as. Cheap eats are > Teddys bigger burgers, Philly cheese, Spero pizza and round table pizza. There are food courts which have subway, taco bell, jack in the box etc.. Great eats are Hula grill, Chillis, Dukes, they average around 35pp USD thats with one main each and two drinks each. My wife was having cocktails which avearged from 6 to 10 and a beer about 4.50. But they do not measure their cocktail nips so they can be lethal. Waikiki isnt a massive area so go for walks and ask the locals for info. You must go to Ala moana shopping centre its got good shopping and also waikele outlets. Some good things to do are > walk up diamond head, go to hanamuna bay, go to kailua beach, the sea life park luau was fantastic (80 USD each but I highly recomend it). If you have any other questions just ask.
If you're renting a car, I highly recommend the 45 minute drive from Waikiki to Giovanni's shrimp truck on the North shore. Ask a local, most will know about it. Then sign your name on the truck. A plate of delicious jumbo shrimp and rice for $12. Then drive down the road to Matsumotos for shave ice. If you want closer to Waikiki try Zippys or the lunches in the ala moana shopping center.
Lots of good ideas above.

If you eat in the hotels expect to pay more than if you find a good restaurant off of the strip. Expect to pay more for alcohol at a bar than if you buy it at Longs or some grocery store. Expect to pay even more if the bar is in a hotel. That being said, some like Dukes, are worth visiting at least once!!

In general stay in Waikiki and walk around. Lots to choose from. But the the further away from Waikiki, the cheaper the options.
Rainbow Drive-In
(808) 737-0177
3308 Kanaina Ave
Honolulu, HI 96815

Forget McDonalds, Jack-in-the-Box and anything else you can get on the mainland.

Go to Rainbow drive-in. It is a local favorite, has been around forever and is inexpensive in price for A LOT of food! And it's 2 minutes away.

The shrimp truck another poster suggested is also really good. You can find several shrimp trucks around the island.
