Travel help - Hawaii?

Travel Info
I am goint to Hawii next month with my family. Any advice regarding budget accomodation, resturant, shopping, what to do and transport would be appreciated

Travel Tips
Restraunts and shopping are all over the place
tons to do.. don't worry about that till you get here.
Don't rent a car as parking is scarce and expensive, maybe rent a car for a day or two and circle the island.
budget accomocations.. try the Ambassador hotel.. they have kitchens and an internet rate, I've stayed there and its nice, a couple blocks from the beach and the maids even do your dishes LOL Source(s): http://www.ambassadorwaikiki.com/...
Other Travel Tips
If you go to Waikiki, there are some good economy hotels.
You'll have plenty to do with a mile of any hotel. There are LOTS of restaurants and shopping places in Waikiki from the least expensive 99 cent meal deals to the most luxurious places you can imagine.
Spend lots of time at the beach and, depending on the age of your family, there are lots of tours and activities you can do.
I suggest you contact a Hawaii based travel agent who knows the area exceptionally well and can give you the best and most current advice. Check out my source. You'll be glad you did.

I have stayed at the Pacific Beach Hotel, but it is more costly than a budget hotel. You can check out any Ohana hotels, they might be less expensive.
For transportation, use TheBus! Go to any ABC store, buy a four day Discoverer's Bus Pass for $20.00 This will take you practically anywhere you want to go on the Island for four consecutive days! My family has used The Bus each time that we have visited Oahu. Comes in mighty handy!
A really good less expensive restaurant would be Seaside Bar and Grill. It is on the corners of Seaside and Kuhio Ave. in the Waikiki area. They always have specials! The food is really good, and not bad prices at all. Shopping everywhere you look! The ABC stores are the least expensive for things to take home! Tshirts are 10 for $20.00, the sales tax is 4.2%, so it isn't that bad.
Have fun!!

You really owe it to yourself to get the best tour guides in print on Hawaii by Andrew Doughty and Harriet Friedman...they have 3 to date, Oahu Revealed, The Ultimate Kauii Handbook, Hawaii: The Big Island Revealed, each on a different island there...I think they have one on Maui, too. They are great books!
