Travel Info Is it worth staying at a beachfront hotel in Honolulu or are there any hotels close to beach that are good? Travel Tips The beach-front hotels are a gyp. The only difference between a beach-front hotel in Waikiki and a non-beach front hotel in Waikiki is the beach-front one is right on the sand where the non-beach-front one is 18 ft away across the street from the sand. If you're in good health, you can walk to the beach in 1 minute from a non-beach front hotel. My cousin got a nice hotel right across the street from the beach and paid hundreds of dollars less because it was not right on the sand. She stayed at the Waikiki Circle Hotel. I would also recommend the Aston Waikiki Beach hotel. Good hotel, right across the street from the beach, that doesn't charge an arm and a leg. Source(s): Lives in Hawaii Other Travel Tips If your comming to Oahu, 99% of the hotels are in Waikiki. They are in withen a 2 block walking distance to the beach. Only pay for a beachfront hotels if seeing the ocean from your hotel room is imperative, in which case requesting an ocean view room will cost more anyway. The Halekulani is the nicest in Waikiki (over $400 a night), but there are pleny of other nice ones in the $150-$200 a night range. Anything less than $130, and the rooms won't be that nice. Live in Waikiki. not worth it in waikiki. it's a very short distance to the beach in waikiki. the last time went there, we stayed at a condo (royal hawaiian) as opposed to a hotel and it was awesome. besides the fact that it's cheaper, it was very modern and had a full kitchen... we didn't cook, but it's nice to have a microwave and fridge (as opposed to a minibar). i would recommend looking into it. but any hotel in waikiki is close enough to the beach. go to one of the less touristy islands and stay on the beach. This same question was asked a few days ago. Here, try this site: http://lahotels.rediffblogs.com... i would stay on the beach. hilton hawaiian village is nice |
