Do I need a passport to go to hawaii with the new rules in 07? |
Travel Info I need to know please if somebody know... I'm in USA but I don't get my pass yet.. I will need it or just my drive License?!!! thanks for answering!!! Dolphin Travel Tips Hawaii is part of the 50 United States, and as such, you do not need a passport to travel there. Your DL should do just fine. It is a good Idea to have a passport with you if you travel to any US territories (Guam, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, etc). You would definitely need a passport if you wanted to travel out of the US. Aloha. Source(s): http://www.travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc... Other Travel Tips No, Hawaii is part of the USA. No. That is like asking if you need a passport to visit California. You only need a passport when you are visitng countries outside of the US. If you are a U.S. citizen you do not need a passport to travel to Hawaii. If you're an American citizen, then no -- you won't need a passport to go to Hawaii. Even though it seems like it's a long way away -- and it is! -- you're not technically leaving the US, since Hawaii is one of the 50 American states. It's as much a part of America as, say, Iowa or Michigan. Your drivers license -- provided it's valid and up to date -- will be enough for you to travel with, providing you're a U.S. citizen, flying from somewhere within the U.S. to Hawaii. (If you're NOT a U.S. citizen, I've given you a link below so you can check and see what you'll need. If you're within the U.S. already, however, I'd assume you're a Permanent Resident, in which case the same rules apply as if you were a U.S. citizen -- i.e.: no passport necessary.) I think there might have been a little confusion because of the new rules that were implemented in January of this year -- they state that when arriving BY AIR from the U.S. into Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Bermuda, all U.S. citizens need to have a passport. (You don't currently need a passport if arriving by land or sea, but you will do as soon as next January.) Since you're going to Hawaii, though, you're fine. Hope this helps -- have a safe trip! I'm an editor with Travelocity. Here's a great link to the government's new rules for travel requirements: http://www.travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc...
