A question about HAUPIA? |
Travel Info where can I get Haupia in Honolulu? just like the one's they serve at Sam Choy's with the coconut on top. I would like to know which bakery. Thank you for your help. Travel Tips A lots of places sell Haupia. Here is one recipe that my husband found on the net a while ago: Haupia (Coconut pudding desert) 12 ounces chilled coconut milk 1 1/2 cups water 1/2 cup + 2 T. sugar 1/2 cup + 2 T. cornstarch Combine all ingredients in saucepan and stir over medium heat until thickened. Lower heat and cook for 10 minutes, stir constantly to avoid lumping or burning. Pour into 8x8 inch dish and chill until set. Cut haupia into squares & serve. Serves 8-10 people. Enjoy! Others Liliha bakery. http://honolulu.citysearch.com/profile/3... http://onokinegrindz.typepad.com/ono_kin... Zippy's Restaurants 1765 South King, Honolulu, HI 96826 http://www.zippys.com/zippys/product.asp... http://www.zippys.com/zippys/product.asp... I don't know where Sam Choy get's their haupia from (or if they make it themselves) but you won't find it in most bakeries as it's not really a bakery item. You'll be better off finding it at a hawaiian restaurant like People's Cafe on Pali Highway (near to Pali Longs) or you can make it yourself with a mix. Good luck! |
