When is it the most economical (cheapest) time to fly and stay in Oahu? |
Travel Info In other words, when is it the off season for travel to Hawaii? I last heard summer was considered their off season secondary to the winter traveller. True? Travel Tips According to Frommers: Quote; "The off season, when the best rates are available and the islands are less crowded, is spring (mid-Apr to mid-June) and fall (Sept to mid-Dec) -- a paradox, because these are the best seasons to be in Hawaii, in terms of reliably great weather. If you're looking to save money, or if you just want to avoid the crowds, this is the time to visit. Hotel rates and airfares tend to be significantly lower, and good packages are often available." The cheapest way I have found to fly to the islands is to check with Expedia and find the lowest fare and then go directly to the website of the airline with the lowest Expedia price. Cheapest days of the week to travel are Mon. Tue. and Wed. usually, but take some time and check every day you can travel. Often times it is cheaper to book a flight to Honolulu and then purchase a ticket with Hawaiian Airlines or Aloha Airlines, their fares are $39 oneway and sometimes only $19 oneway. Do a little homework and you can save yourself a lot of money to do other things while there. I went for 2 weeks but i booked my flight about a month in advance for roundtrip airfare i only paid $179. Again this was a couple of years ago. I'm sure it will cost more, but believe me its worth it.If or when you go be sure 2 visit Pearl Harbor (USS Arizona Memorial),and The North Shore you won't believe the size of the waves. As for where 2 stay i can't help you there because we stayed with a friend that lived there at the time.Sorry. P.S. when ordering a drink (if you drink) try a CHI-CHI. Summer is one of the most expensive times to go, because kids are out of school. Spring and fall are the cheapest. Generally, from mid-march to mid-may, and from mid to late September and mid November. Airfares can drop 30-40% during these times. Hotel rates don't drop too much (20% or so). Just tell them you're on your honeymoon and you'll likely get a nice room upgrade for free in low season. Check out Hotels.com - they can give you rates and info on the hotels. 1-800-246-8357 and they're open 24/7! |
