Good tips for Hawaiian Honeymoon?

Travel Info
trying to book our honeymoon-to Hawaii on October.
Any good hotel tips would be great-or things to do.
We want to go to Maui and Kauai---help please!
we wanted to do tahiti-but cannot quite afford it.

Travel Tips
Wonderful. Go to Fern Grotto on Kaua'i. A fabulous trip up the river on the boat (Smith's) gets you there, and is part of the admission, but very pretty, and Kodac moment filled. Sometimes the guide will sing the Hawaiian Wedding Song for you. Also, rent a car, and go to Hanalei Bay, a beautiful beach for a picnic, and if you like hiking, on the North shore, pass the "wet and dry caves", spectacular ocean cliffs with trails. Talk to the conciers at your hotel, or even call them before you book, they will suggest more. On Maui, go to Iao Valley. No cost, but very nice. You may also go up to Haleakala, a long winding trip, but spetacular views. There are a number of bicycle companies that will take you up, and then you ride down from mountain top to the sea shore, of course for a fee, but kinda neat. As for the hotels, they of course are expensive, but even if once in a life time, well worth it. Lots of folks love the drive to Hana. If you go, take your time, and stop along the way to smell the flowers, put some in your hair for "him", see if "Jaws" is breaking (Seventy foot waves), pick some fresh Guava fruits, have a drink at a road side stand, and talk to the nice locals, take pictures at many water falls, and then, swim together at the seven pools.

Walmart saved our hide on Kauai. All that junk that is too cumbersome to pack, buy it at Walmart for cheap.
Its as good as you make it ;)
My favorite city in Hawaii is Australia. They serve lots of great bratwurst and I love the native language. I can't tell what they are talking about due to all the clicking, but it doesn't matter cause they all look awesome with all those towels on their heads!
I think it's in kawai that there are low-cost bungalows administered as a fundraiser by the pathfinder club of the seventh-day adventist church. out of the ordinary & unique, that's where I would like to do my honeymoon when I get there
Please, I am begging you do not go to Kaua'i, unless you're 50 years or older and only want to lay on the beach and do nothing all day.

How long is your honeymoon? If its only a week, here is what you should do:

Spend 4 days in Maui (trust me, you can basically drive around the whole island of Maui in one day). Stay near the airport in a beach town call Paia, which is about 10 miles away from the airport. Rent a car. I can't really tell you where to stay because anywhere you stay, its going to be a good beach front hotel. You can't really find a bad hotel in Maui. Anyway, La'haina is only 15 miles away from Paia. The road to Hana is 60 miles away from Paia. The IAO Valley is 10 miles away from Paia. Maui Ocean Center (highly recommended) is 5 miles away from Paia.

If you are young and hip, I would recommend going to O'ahu instead of Kaua'i. But, you might want take a tour to introduce to you to the whole entire island of O'ahu. Then after the tour, you can rent a car and explore on your own. Since O'ahu is more of a city enviornment, the name of the street is really hard to pronounce for non Hawaiians. That's why you want to take a tour first and get familiarize with the streets and highways.

If you want to go and check out all the islands, you can take a cruise where it takes you to all the islands. Anyway, congrats on your upcoming wedding and good luck.
Choose Maui! Definitely. My husband and I honeymooned there and are going back this August (after only three years away). Maui pulls you back. Trust me.

Do not stay in Paia though. It's a cute town but if you're looking for an area that's stereotypically "Hawaiian"...Paia is not it. It's a town in the middle of the island. You'll have to drive to the beach. Who wants to do that on a honeymoon?

I suggest the Maui Prince in Makena. It's cheaper than a lot of resorts but is still super nice. It's worth every penny. Plus it's located on the south side of the island, right on the beach. The area is lush and beautiful. Very tropical. We had geckos on our balcony every night!

Don't be fooled by reports that Makena is far away from everything else on the island. It is at the end of the road (so to speak) but you can easily drive all over the island. It's small enough.

Don't be beach bums the whole time either...even though it's tempting! I suggest snorkeling at Molokini and taking the drive to Hana. Also, be sure to catch the Old Lahaina Luau. It's the best. Book early and reserve traditional mat seating for a more authentic experience. Choose a designated driver though...there's an open bar and the drinks are heavy on the alcohol!

Have a great time! Congrats!
