Travel Info Where is the best place to snorkle in maui? Travel Tips There are several excellent places to snorkel on Maui, but I have to believe one place wins out over all the rest, Honolua Bay. Molokini Islet is a favorite as well but does not quite measure up to Honolua Bay. I have snorkeled a couple of dozen places and it is tops by far. Maybe some locals can steer you to something better, but for my money it's tops. You can't snorkel it in the winter due to high surf but the summer months are grand. Other Travel Tips There are lots of great places to snorkel in Maui. Trilogy has terrific snorkle cruises, including one to Molokini a small island 3 miles off Maui where the snorkeling is truly amazing. Molokini is a Marine Life Conservation District Seabird Sanctuary, and a world-class dive location. Located 3 miles off the shores of Maui, it is famous for having incredibly clear water with visibility exceeding 100 feet almost every day. You will enjoy thousands of brightly colored tropical fish and it is possible to see monk seals, whale sharks, manta rays, spotted eagle rays and harmless white tip sharks. Molokini is one of the most popular & exotic snorkel & diving sites in the entire world. They sometimes also go to other snorkle spots like the Coral Gardens which are accessible only by boat, except by very advanced swimmer/snorkelers. These sites have the benefit of being untrodden by thousands of visitors and so the coral is alive and colorful. There are good snorkel sites at Black Rock in Kaanapali, at Kapalua Beach, at Polo Beach in front of the Kea Lani Hotel in Wailea, and at Kamaole Beach in Kihei.
