Do you think it'll be hard? |
Travel Info for me to make friends if im from the seacoast area, and my family is moving to hawaii ( like id be going to pearl city high school)? like are many people in hawaii freindly? i mjust worried i won't be like accepted of soemthing haha. any tips? or something? Travel Tips Most of the kids in Hawaii are just like you, wondering about friends, what people think, and "is he cute?" They are also happy people, welcoming, and like meeting you, but also like all kids, don't like those who think they are better than they. You will meet kids in class who like you, want to hook up for new friendship. The best think you can do is smile alot, be accepting, be a friend, don't over dress like your wealthy or fake, and then be yourself. You'll see, you'll have tons of friends, loving friends, long lasting friends. Others We, here in Hawaii, are just like everyone else in the lower states. We're a friendly bunch of natives. I think the only thing you'll need to adjust to is our local talk, but once you get a hang of it, you'll be fine. I agree with the person who wrote about language. I suggest that you familiarize yourself with Hawaiian Creole English, aka Pidgin: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/hawaiian_pi... http://www.hisurf.com/pidgin.html... http://hawaiischoolreports.com/language/... I suggest that you get and use skateboard and surfboard. I also suggest that you get involved with athletics, drama, journalism, or whatever school activity interests you. Volunteer if you can at some organization that interests you. Be aware that you might initially encounter some cold shoulders, but just be real and genuine, and try not to take everything personally. People will eventually warm up to you. Steer clear of drugs. You'll be fine. Think of it as a new lease on life. You will not regret living in Hawai'i. O'ahu is one of the most multicultural places in the U.S. You will meet people of all nationalities, ethnicities, traditions, etc. Think of it as an introduction to the real world. Try not to assume the worst and try to muster up as much confidence as you can. Oh, and be open-minded. Don't be judgemental. And try to hide your shock if you see something that freaks you out (i.e., pigs heads at the market in Chinatown). Get an 'ukulele and learn to play. Immerse yourself in the culture, regardless of your race/ethnicity/nationality. And learn some Hawaiian language. And consider going to the University of Hawai'i for college. You'll have a distinct advantage since you attended high school here. Now have fun!!! Pearl City is an okay school, i don't know you but i'm sure everything will work out fine. At first things may suck, but think of it this way: if the world didn't suck we'd all fall off!! hehe But yeah its a very different culture here compared to either east or west coasts. BUT YOU WILL FIT IN! i have a couple of friends who came from southern california and hated it here at first, but after a couple of months, they were definitely staying here for the rest of their lives. Was born in SoCal and have friends from SoCal Just be yourself!!!! Put a great big smile on your face and "hang loose, sista or brah"!!! I would love to be moving to Hawaii!! it is sooooooo awesome there!! I have been there with my husband and our son six times, and have met some of the friendliest people there that I have ever known!!! You will soooooo enjoy it there!! If you are into shopping go for it!! You will be accepted, just don't act "snooty" or dress to the nines!! Whatever you wear during the summer will do just fine in Hawaii!!! Relax, and you will "be a local" in no time at all!! Enjoy!! there going to tie you up and eat you mmmmmm |
