How much will we need for spending money in Oahu? |
Travel Info We'll be there for 7 days. It's also our honeymoon and neither of us have been there before. Travel Tips I am from Oahu born and raised....I think you should probably need $500.00-$700.00 because you will be there for 1 week....so it depends on what restaurant you going to eat at and what stores you are going too.....And you should go to the polynesian culture center for you honeymoon...it's where all tourists and honeymooners go....they have a hawaiian buffet and they have hula and tahitian dancers that perform...they have all kinds of activites and games you can play.... Others I lived in Oahu for four years. Oahu is very expensive. I would say about $200.00 a day if you can afford it. Oh my gosh, any Hawaiian island is extremely expensive. A gallon of milk was $7 last year. Do they only have one cow on the island?? But, it's beautiful and you'll be breathtaken by so much beauty. Oh, and hit Hilo Hattie's (sp) for souvenirs. You can bring all your friends shell necklaces back without busting your bank account. :) If you want to save some bucks...go to the aloha bowl flea market on Wednesday or Saturday. You'll need a rental car. They have plenty of t-shirts and other cool items for purchase. Stop by Lin's market and have his pineapple bag for $3(at aloha bowl). Giovanni's shrimp truck on the north shore gives you a nice plate of shrimp and rice for $12. Todai's is a Japanese seafood buffett 1 block from the Hilton hawaiian Village. I think it's $27 per person. It is delicious. In the morning, go to Eggs and things in Waikiki. This is also where many of the locals eat. Pearl Harbor is free but get there very early. Hilo Hattie's is a good place for some specailty items like pure Kona coffee. Do not buy the crappy kona blend. There will be an ABC store every block or 2 in Waikiki. If you forget something at home you can buy it there. Also, avoid the crappy and expensive vendors pushing the helicopter and boat tours. BEWARE some are shady and not legitimate. Instead, inquire for any tours at your hotel. They will help you have a better time and save money. Congrats and enjoy. |
