Best and most affordable place to stay in Hawaii? |
Travel Info Hi - I'm looking for the best location in hawaii for good swimming beaches with clear warm water (not afraid of a few waves - just not big bad ones) and I have no idea which island I should stay on - OR what the biggest bang for the buck is. I'm looking for a place around $75- $150 a night. Hawaii experts please advise! :) Willing to do b&b - like privacy. Travel Tips Once you decide which island you are going to visit the best site we have found for finding inexpensive lodging is "Vacation Rentals By Owner" www.vrbo.com. You will find offerings from resort properties, timeshares, homes, condominiums and apartments all offererd by private owners at greatly discounted rates. I'm sure you will find something to your liking regardless of where you wind up staying. As far as beaches go all the islands have good beaches with Maui probably more so than the others as far as numbers and diversity. If you want a fast pace visit Oahu, a little more laid back and slower, Maui. Volcanoes and even more laid back the big island of Hawaii. Kauai has beautiful fauna and rainforest but is fairly isolated with very little shopping and no night life. Lanai and Molokai would be if you wanted seclusion and very little commercial impact but beautiful and uncrowded beaches. No matter which island you choose the people of Hawaii are all the same. The most accommodating and friendly you will find anywhere in the world. Source(s): http://gohawaii.about.com/od/beaches/haw... http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa... Other Travel Tips there are no affordable places in HA. I lived the for a yr in 1987 and was paying $700 for a modest 2 br apt. I hated it there. I LOVE "TURTLE BAY" LOCATED ON DA NORTH SHORE OF OAHU. AWAY FROM THE HUSSLE AND BUSSLE OF WAIKIKI. NICE QUIET COUNTRY HOTEL. BEACHES AND WAVES NICE AND CLEAN. DEN AGAIN N-E WERE IS BEAUTIFULL IN HAWAII!! BORN AND RAISED NORTH SHORE OAHU PRIDE OF DA NORTH SHORE!! HAVE FUN!! LIVE ALOHA!! This privately owned cottage is on the north shore of Kauai, about 10 minutes from Hanalei. Ke'e Beach and the Kalalau Trail is westward in about 5 minutes' drive. In order to get to this cottage, you will have to drive over about 4 very rustic, old fashioned one-lane bridges, which have not been replaced with modern ones because the local residents are very opposed to development. This very secret cottage is not on the beach, but you can get to the Lumahai Beach by walking for about 10 minutes. The cottage itself is for two people in love. It has a good quality queen size bed, a full kitchen with microwave, breakfast nook, tv, vcr and a mini stereo system. There are no telephones. From the breakfast nook, you can see and hear the small river. The cottage is done in modest but charming island decor, tie-dyed homey curtains, tapas on the floor. Outside, there is a hot and cold outdoor shower, AND a deep, claw-footed tub. There is also the outdoor charcoal grill and patio, and there are banana trees and other seasonal fruit trees that you can simply pluck and eat. The place is so private that you can run amok the grounds naked all day and night. At night, while you're bathing among tiki torches, you can look up and understand why they call it the "Milky Way." I've never met the owner but the people who manage the place unseen are a few of the most thoughtful and kindest people in all of Kauai. The price is about the middle of your range. If this sounds good, email me at jeanettewinterson@yahoo.com This place is my slice of heaven and I don't want too many people to know. Thanks. |
