An Ascetic in Hawaii? |
Travel Info Ok...my question is about living in Hawaii. My needs for living are really less. I don't need a big house, fancy car and stereo. I don't need fancy clothes, fancy restaurants and things like that. All i want is a really tiny place for living with the bed and small kitchenette. How much money do i have to earn working in Hawaii to make my less needs possible there? I'm single, buddhist, not married and not having kids. Not planning either. ALL i need is to be close with this beautiful place. To be part of this. I could say that living as a homeless would be not bad too, but it's quite better to have some place to hide and rest sometimes...If You understand what i mean...An Ascetic in Hawaii Travel Tips I think the cheapest thing to rent for you would be a studio and usually the price runs for $750-$900 a month at the low end. It's really hard to find anything cheaper then that. Don't expect to find anything like that on Oahu either. You'll have to look from something on the neighbor islands. So depending on how much you spend on food....you'll probably need about $1200-$1500 but I don't know if you plan on paying for utilities, if so you'd need to add maybe another $100ish. You can easily make that much money working at a higher end hotel. My friend made bank working at the Grand Wailea, so you can prolly do it. Others Read the book "Affordable Paradise" by H. Skip Thomsen Also read "A concise history of the Hawaiian Islands" by Phil Barnes. These two books will give you a very good perspective, and advice about what to expect about living and expenses in Hawai'i. Remember, Aloha is where you make it. try http://www.amazon.com |
