Travel Info how much money should i take? i heard its real expensive to do things out there and the food is also. just wondering whats a decent amount to take to be able to enjoy the island, (tourist attractions, clubs, beach activities,etc.). if any one knows of free activities, that would be great. lol Travel Tips It depends on what you like to do and which island you're going to. I work for a company based out of Honolulu and I live and work over there a few months every year. If you are going to Oahu and hang out in Waikiki you're going to spend a lot of money ($50 to $200 or more per day depending on the things you want to do.) It's the same at every touristy hot spot on all the other islands in the state. Free Stuff: Playing in the ocean is free and so is hiking in the mountains. The snorkeling and surfing is great and you can rent equipment fairly cheap. There is a lot to be discovered in the mountains too if you like to hike. Here's a hiking site I know of for Oahu. http://oahuhiking.com/ I know you'll need some souvenirs for yourself and everybody at home. My advise is find a Kmart or Wal-Mart. Every Kmart has a souvenir section where you can buy all the same stuff you see in tourist town at a much cheaper price. If you have a chance go to the swap meet (seriously). You can buy every souvenir you could imagine at rock bottom. You can get eight T-shirts for twenty bucks and you would spend more than for one in tourist town. Take a few hours, go there and get all the souvenir stuff out of the way and spend the rest of your time soaking in the sunshine..... Aloha Others lucky duck and take about 500 dollars and not to much more then tha set a amount to spend and not one dime more and then you can save on your trip. Not that expensive. I eat Korean BBQ or Hawaiian Plate lunches and they are pretty cheap. Depends too where you stay.
