Anyone very familiar with Kihei in Maui? |
Travel Info We'll be staying in Kihei. Can anyone recommend some 'must' places to eat, shop, events....things to do in this area? Mahalo! Travel Tips http://www.tripadvisor.com/restaurants-g... will help you find places. You must try Da Kitchen, a local eatery that's dirt cheap, great food, more than the average person can eat. Once you get there, you will quickly find the places to shop and great food, stay away from the pricy places, go to where the locals eat, there are NO bad restaurants, just some that have more ambience. Being from Hawai'i, it pains me to see folks get taken in by high priced places but if you insist on "atmosphere" that's a personal choice. If you like Chinese food, these are usually reasonable. But don't be afraid to ask the locals, they are eager to help. Others That whole Kihei strip has okay eateries. With pretty good prices. For shopping, it pretty much is a tourist trap. The things to do on Maui is go to the beaches. Kihei,Wailea and Makena areas are great. You also want to go to Haleakala to watch the sunrise. And maybe a snorkel tour to Molokin crater. Kamaole I, II, and III, Sugar Beach.....very good swimming, sunbathing etc. Golfing too expensive. Try the bike ride down from Haleakala. You don't say how long you'll be. Rent mopeds, and cruse around, take the car to Hana, beautiful long, winding road, lots of Kodak moments at the many waterfalls. Stop in Paia town, catch the wind surfing. Have a shaved ice....strawberry. Go up to Iao needle, then a picnic lunch at Kepaniwai park....more Kodaks. Pick some mangos, uuummmmm. Try a luau, little expensive, but nice. Check out the aquarium. Lots to do for the first timers. Try the different local/ethnic foods....try some poke. Is Azeka's ribs still good? |
