Travel Info
I'm 14 and going to Hawaii for a x-mas vacay with my mom ,dad, and my sister(age 11) and I was wondering what is there to do for kids? we're thinking about staying in Oahu

Travel Tips
Hawaii is the BEST place for kids! You can have so much fun at all the beaches and not spend much money at all. Get yourselves a boogie board, snorkel and mask, and maybe some fins at the local ABC store there and you will have a week's worth of entertainment. Maybe get an underwater disposable camera to take pictures of some fish you see... or your sister's feet on the sandy bottom.

Also, shopping is a blast. At those ABC stores, or at Hilo Hattie's, you can buy yourself fresh water pearl bracelets for less than $5.00!

Enjoy any of the entertainment options that your parents take you to. Watch how they do the various hulas and then try it out yourself when you get back to your hotel.

On Oahu, at the southern part of Waikiki Beach, they show free movies on the beach on most Saturday and Sunday nights.

Walking up and down the main drag in Waikiki you will see lots of entertaining things. People playing music, hula dancers, mimes, especially at night.

Check out the "Oceanarium Restaurant" in Waikiki for the biggest indoor aquarium you have ever seen!

While you are there, you gotta go to Pearl Harbor for some history. You will be able to say "I was there" to your friends later, and tell them about how you saw the oil leaking to the surface from the ships that have been underwater for over 50 years.

Go to Sea Life Park and see the dolfin show. Have your parents take you to North Shore where the big waves for surfing are. They may be very big while you are there.

On the way back, stop at the Byodo-In Buddhist temple (it's in a cemetary area) and ring the giant bell for good luck. Feed the koi fish, and peacocks. Buy yourself a small souvenir from the little shop - maybe a tiny ceramic green frog to keep in your wallet (to ensure you always have money).

Also, ask them to drive up to the Nuuanu Pali Lookout on the way back to Waikiki. Check out the view, and then walk down to the small road below the lookout and lean into the wind. It's so strong, it will hold you up. Take pictures of each other leaning sideways into the wind.

There is lots of stuff for kids to do! The beach is always a great option or you're not into the beach (I ican't find any kid here that isn't?), check out the waterpark!

Have a great trip!
surf
There's tons to do! You guys could go snorkeling at Shark's Cove (don't worry, there are no sharks there), you can go hiking (there are some really cool trails that lead you up into the mountains), you can go to a luau... I think you're old enough to go parasailing--which is just SO fun. On the beach you can rent boogie boards and kayaks for really cheap. You can hike up to the top of Diamond Head, which is the volcano on Oahu. You can take a ride on a catamarand that'll take you out to Turtle Bay and go snorkeling there. You'll see tons of turtles and fish swimming around. And just like anywhere else, Hawaii has movie theaters and arcades. If you get a chance, go to Eggs 'N Things and have the macadamia nut pancakes. You can also go to the bird sanctuary and swim in the waterfall and feed the peacocks that are just wandering around. And that's right near Pearl Harbor. Oh! There's also horseback riding. You guys are gonna have a great time!
You can go swimming in the ocean, learn to surf, hike Diamond Head, go to the Honolulu Zoo, go shopping!!! There is just a zillion things to do!! Just go and have a ball!!
