What type of clothing should I pack for Hawaii?

Travel Info
I'm going to Hawaii the end of June to July 5th with my boyfriends family for a wedding, what type of clothes should I pack?

Weather and "events" to plan for? ie- Rain, wind, hiking etc

Travel Tips
Lightweight clothing, plus your swimsuit (2 if you have 2 of them). Do not pack alot. There are stores there if you need an outfit for the wedding.
If there is rain, it would only last for a little bit. Have an amazing time!!
Hawaii is Hawaii no matter what kind of weather!! Source(s): www.visit-oahu.com

Other Travel Tips
lightweight light colors. Swim wear for sure. - take shorts, tops, capris. This isnt rain season but you might get the spot shower so a poncho would do. Get water shoes for the beaches - there are lava rocks in the water and will cut your feet - these will allow easier walking in the ocean. Other than whatever you normally would pack - good shoes for hiking and walking - flip flops. Whatever you will need for the wedding - sundress, dressy shoes.

Have Fun - cant wait to go back.
Consider taking a nearly empty suitcase, just enough to get by, obviously, lightweight, preferably cottons. Shorts is a must.

When you're there, buy aloha shirts, muu muu's and you'll not only have souvenirs, but you'll also be totally in fashion. The better stores in the Ala Moana shopping center get you the best quality, the stuff you see in the International markets in Waikiki, including Hilo Hattie's really don't hold up very well.

Don't worry about rain, you get a little wet, big deal, you dry out quickly.
Don't worry about rain. It usually rains for about 5 minutes every afternoon. But everything is dry again in another 5 minutes.

Buy your outfit while you are there, and you will really look the part! Just pack bathing suits, shorts, a few tops (shop there for more) and bring lots of clean underwear!
Warm weather clothes such as cotton shorts and t-shirts do you good (or cotton dresses if you need to dress up).

It may rain/be windy a bit (depending on where you are and what the weather pattern is like) but you shouldn't need more than a light windbreaker type jacket and an umbrella.

As for hiking, unless you folks are planning to go hiking, you don't need to bring hiking gear for regular everyday life. Even if you do go hiking, regular tennis shoes, hat and backpack(that you don't mind getting dirty) should be enough to get you through most trails.

Have a great trip!
It depends if you plan on spending a lot of money here. If money is no concern than you can buy everything you'll possibly need here.

Otherwise, bring tank tops (halters, spaghetti straps, tube tops too) are fine. You could bring a pair of jeans if you're most comfortable in them or wear them often. You probably want to bring a couple of shorts or short skirts for walking around or just hanging out throughout the day. Swimsuits are a must, of course. Also bring a thin or light sweater that would match most of your outfits, that way a bulky jacket won't take up suitcase space, especially since you'll only use it on a chilly night. Bring slippers (people in Hawaii refer to "flip-flops" as slippers.) But these can also be bought for really cheap at sundry stores (One of the most popular companies is called the "ABC store").

Also bring some clothes that you can put on after swimming that won't leave your shirt or shorts with wet bikini marks. Bring a beach towel (because it's different from a bath towel which will be in your hotel bathroom) or you can buy a beach towel here for about $10.

You probably won't have to worry about rain, unless you're going to Kaua'i or Hana, and even then you'll be fine. Just find (buy/bring) an umbrella. If you are going hiking, (whether it's in a rainforest or on volcanic rocks) whatever pair of regular tennis shoes that you have will be completely fine. I think one of the answers before me mentioned something about shoes for walking on reefs or rocks so that your feet don't get cut. They're actually called "reefwalkers" and can be bought here, although you probably don't need them because you shouldn't be walking on the reef anyways. And you probably won't need a poncho either. Enjoy Hawaii

Ps. I would have a dress picked out for the wedding before you get here. I'm not sure which area of Hawaii you will be visiting. There is a lot of great shopping, but it's not guaranteed that you will find something here that you would want to wear to the ceremony.
