Polynesian Cultural Center OAHU??? Admission, Show, IMAX... What is it all about? What is the best package?

Travel Info
My Husband and Son (9 months) and I are going to Oahu and want to go to the PCC. These are our options...
Admission only $32
Show Only $28
Admission, Show & IMAX??? $44

What is each one all about? What should we do? What is the best option? Which one is the funnest and most interesting and worthwhile?

Travel Tips
You should get the full package one: admission, IMAX, Luau dinner/show, Night Show. It's well worth it!!! Highly recommend !!!.I went there many many many times.

This will be the defining point of your visit. Your ticket will get you 3 days to use it, so if you have time on the island split it up into 2 days. Go early the first day and plan on the full tour along the "canal" in a canoe. (not actually the term for the vessel) where you will slip past various Polynesian villages/villagers. There will be crafts to try and shops. The second day you can pick up anything you didn't get to the 1st day then a FAB luau. After the luau you will move to the outdoor theater for THE best Polynesian show ever. All other shows you see in the islands will only make you long for your time at the Poly. There is so much to see you will want to use the extra days. There is also a VIP package, if you can swing that and you may not be back to the islands again soon I would really make that choice.
Gee it sound's like I work there, but really I don't. I have been 12 times over the past 15 years (to the islands, not the Poly center) and have seen many reviews and luau's.
I don't really know the answer to your question, but it seems like you don't know what IMAX is and since the last guy didn't really explain it I thought I would.

The IMAX is like a cinema, but it has the biggest screen you've ever seen in your life and the films are usually watched with 3D glasses (not always).
I've been a couple of times to the IMAX in my home city, and while it's good, it's not absolutely amazing. Unless they are showing something you really want to see, I would give it a miss.
In summary, the IMAX is the type of thing you do once to see what all the fuss is about, and then never again because its a waste of money.
I have been to the Polynesian Cultural Center, I really enjoyed the evening show "Horizons". Viewing the other "islands" at the center was very educational, some fun thrown in here and there.
We had the buffet dinner, which the food was very good!
Go to your activities desk at your hotel and look at the brochure for the Center. Or better yet, go to the website!
www.polynesia.com (Polynesian Cultural Center).
I went in Sept. and loved it. You will go by charter more than likely, and then when we got to the center we upgraded for just a few more dollars. It was easier that way, plus you'll have a tour guide (we had Gandi, he was great). We chose to skip the Imax that day, because we had passes to go back.We opted to eat at the buffet in the cafeteria, and it was delicious and less crowded. The canoe parade was beautiful, but you may want to take something to block the sun. For the best photos, go further down past the bleachers where the parade passes, and stand on the small bridge to where the canoe's must pass under. You can take video cameras into the PCC, but during the final show, flashing cameras aren't allowed. They have ladies that hold signs to remind you NO FLASHES.lol All in all it was hands down, my favorite place and don't leave there without trying the watermelon/pineapple ice cream! Quick tip: Don't buy souvenirs at the local stores, unless you just have to have it. The absolute best place to get them is the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet (that's where they play the Pro Bowl). Most hotels offer a transit to it that runs to and from there every 30 min. You can buy alot in bulk for all your friends and family, everything from T-Shirts to music and in between. It's every Wed. Sat. & Sun. 6-3pm.....Hope y'all have a great time!
