Travel Info Is life very expensive in Hawaii? I wan to go there for holiday. Where should I stay? Travel Tips Depends on what you're used to. Because you said 'holiday' instead of 'vacation,' I'm assuming you're European. My friend from Switzerland and I went to Hawaii in 1997 and she thought things were very inexpensive. I, however, thought that everything cost a lot! So it's all relative. Hawaii is a state with many different islands. 6 of them: Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and Hawaii (also known as the Big Island) are open to visitors. Each island has things about it that are special or unique to just that island, so recommending a place for you to stay would depend on your preferences. Do you want lots of shopping, dining, and nightlife as well as beautiful scenery? Then Oahu or even Maui might be more your style. The Big Island and Kauai are pretty laid back and there isn't much nightlife (clubs, bars, etc.). Molokai and Lanai are very small and rural -- Molokai is known as "the most Hawaiian" of the islands. I haven't been to either Molokai or Lanai but I really want to go! Get some travel books (I recommend the "Revealed" series by Andrew Doughty and Harriett Friedman) to help you decide which island you most want to visit. Then go from there. Source(s): Aloha :) Other Travel Tips It is extremely expensive. I suggest you search the web for some good deals on hotels, otherwise a nice hotel is going to run you about $150 a night, if not more!! As long as you can spend $200 a day for a room and another $200 a day for food & play it is a better than o-k place to be. Peace... If you are from the US, then you will think life in Hawaii is very expensive. Hawaii has to have most everything flown or shipped over to them, so they have to charge higher prices than what you would find on the mainland. My hubby and I are planning a trip to Oahu next year, so I have a basic knowledge of what kind of prices to expect. On where to stay...check out some books from your library, google best places to stay in Hawaii, and ask around to see if any of your friends or family knows of someone whom has visited the islands before. The best advice I can give is research on the internet any places you might stay, that way you can read reviews from people who have stayed in that particular condo, hotel etc. Good luck! |
