Im 18 and its my dream to be a flight attendent. What should i major in college for this career? |
Travel Info I know that the best age to become a flight attendent is 21. so i have three more years to go. so during these years, im learning spanish and japanese. I already speak two other languages english and tongan. Im working on my customer service experience and keeping in shape. i want to make my resume as rich and attractive as possible. I also know that more airlines look favorably on those who have tried for higher education pass getting their GED. like a year of college in their belts and even better a associate or bachelor's degree. so thats why im going to college. but what i dont know is what do i major in. what do i get my associate or bachelor's degree in? can anyone help me please i need to know before its too late to change my classes. Travel Tips If your goal is to become a flight attendant, it really doesn't matter what you major in. If you want something that might help you in the field, I would suggest something travel related (tourism management) but it doesn't really matter. My cousin got her degree in History and became a flight attendant for Aloha Airlines so it doesn't really matter. Good luck! Others http://www.flightattendantcareer.com/faq... http://search.yahoo.com/search?search=fl... I'm a FA who majored in English. However, it would probably be best to major in something like Communications, Public Relations, or Travel and Tourism. Mostly airlines just want to know if you can get along with people and communicate well. When building your customer service experience, try to go for a variety of different industries and types of jobs to show your versatility but don't switch jobs so often than you look like a flake. Might I also suggest that you go to the Red Cross and take some CPR classes. The airline will teach you first aid but it'll be nice to have that on your resume. ;) Since you're bilingual, you're already ahead of most of your competitors--good luck!! There is actually no specific major to become a flight attendant, they will take anyone with a high school diploma and having college degree is better. Also helps if you can speak more than one language so the airline you work for can put you on international flights although apparently it is not needed. My old co-worker has a daughter that has been a flight attendant for 10 years for Continental and she majored in dance in college and am unsure if she can speak another language but has traveled all over the world while on the job. Once considered being a flight attendant myself! You need really need a college degree to become a flight attendant. I believe all you need is a High School Diploma. I wouldn't suggest you make being a flight attendant as your permanent career. They don't make that much money. If you can go to college, why don't you major in something better? a career that will help you make good money $$$. Flight attendant is usually just a job for people who didn't make it to college or didn't finish college. You should be a flight attendant temporarily just to gain experience. Do the job for fun & see how you like it. It's not an upscale job. It's mainly a regular Customer Service job. |
