Bank of America anywhere in Oahu? |
Travel Info I'm going there in 2 weeks and hate taking a tone of money on the plane...I haven't been able to find an answer to this question. Any help would be much appreciated. Travel Tips Bank of America was in Hawaii but then sold their interests to a local banking firm. However, you can use your BofA bankcard at any of the ATM cash machines on the island....atleast that's what I did. I noticed First Hawaiian Bank, Central Pacific Bank, and American Savings Bank wil allow up to $500 per day. Bank of Hawaii is more available everywhere but you're limited to a $200 withdrawal so if you need more, you need to make at least another withdrawal and they charge you fees every timg. Others ok i checked and they dont . but you can call them and find out. the number is on the back of your check card. No there are no B of A 's in Oahu or any of the islands. I checked into this and it seems there are no common banks between us and the Islands. We went last year and if you are only going to vacation then buy Travelers Checks at your local bank before going , they are insured and gladly accepted everywhere. If you are going to stay there a while or forever then take cash ( large bills ) and get a bank account right away. I researched this for my Husband who is in Waikiki now. Nope, no Bank of America, but your ckeck card can pay for anything, anywhere with cash back and you can use the ATMs. The entire state of Hawaii does NOT have Bank of America. Make plans to purchase with your Visa Check Card, carry a little bit of cash. No. Bank of America was bought out by American Savings Bank a number of years ago here in Hawaii. You should be able to get money at any atm though.......with the included fees of course. Another option would be to get travelers' checks from your bank before you get here. That way you can have cash without having to carry cash. Happy travels! |
