Fun stuff to do in Kauai?

Travel Info
What is some fun stuff to do in Kauai? And is it possible to get to Pearl Harbor from Kauai? Activities websites are appreicaited!

Travel Tips
Last time I went there I got a kayak tour up the Wailua river to a real cool waterfall, its easy paddling and a fun trip.

The Napail coast is awesome by anyone's standards.. a must see.

I also took a tour via airplane, there is this one 4 seater that fly's and it has large viewing windows on either side. I liked that much better than the helicoptor tour.

Other Travel Tips
Kauai is rich with beautiful scenery, lots of greenery and many rainbows, and most of your fun activities will be outdoors. It's a pretty mellow island, so take it easy.

My "Must Do" Top Pick: The Na Pali Coast...untouched beauty that is best viewed from the air (small plane or helecopter) or from the surrounding water (kayak or other boat). There are no roads to this area, and the hike is very intense!

Other fun things:

You may try a zip line through a rainforest. You're suspended and glide through. I heard it's really fun!

The beaches are beautiful. Poipu beach on the South Shore is often called one of the best beaches in Hawaii. If you like to surf, the North Shore of Kauai has great surfing. I think the surfing is best during the winter, but I'm not sure.

Hiking is fantastic. You may want to consider a group hike or a private guide, as the trails can be quite remote, and the vegetation is so abundant, it can be easy to get disoriented. You want to be safe.

The caves at Haena (on the North Shore) are fun. There's a "Blue Room" cave I went to once, but thinking back, it seems kind of dangerous because you have to swim under some rocks to get there.

Hanalei Valley and Hanalei Bay are both beautiful sights to behold. Hanalei Valley is the first image that comes to my mind whenver I think of Kauai.

Wailua River, Fern Grotto, & Waterfalls

On the West side of the island, there's Waimea Canyon, (the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific"), Koke'e (a forested mountain area), Kalalau lookout (spectacular), and Polihale Beach (very peaceful).

Like all the islands of Hawaii, Kauai is fantastic for golf. I'm not a golfer, but a lot of people golf at Princeville. There are probably other great courses as well.

Kauai is called the Garden Island, and with good reason. There are many gardens on the island. I have never stopped at any of them, but since seeing them on HGTV, I now want to check them out. They look amazing!

As far as nightlife goes, I don't remember a lot of it on Kauai. There are some cool live bands in Hanalei. From what I remember, though, things generally get quiet in the evenings, so that may be a good time for the pool or hot tub, then a good rest for the next day.

As for Pearl Harbor, it's on the island of O'ahu, in Honolulu. If you have not yet made your plane reservations, it's best to stop over in Honolulu to see Pearl Harbor before or after you visit Kauai. Due to flight schedules, you may find it more convenient and pleasant to spend one night in Honolulu. In addition to visiting Pearl Harbor, there's a lot to do on O'ahu.

A "day trip" from Kauai may be costly and time-consuming. While Pearl Harbor is a very signficant part of history, I wouldn't recommend a "day trip," unless it is your only scheduling option and if you have a strong emotional need to visit at this time (Say, for example, you have a relative who was there, or currently have a loved one in harm's way).

If you're unable to make it to Pearl Harbor on this trip, you may read about it and be there "in spirit," then you may visit Pearl Harbor on another trip.

Aloha, and have a wonderful time in Hawaii!
Love the islands!
No on the Pearl Harbor part b/c Pearl Harbor is on another island which is O'ahu. We just got done vacationing in Kauai. I'm still here as we speak & it's our last day. I loved visiting Kauai. Not too many tourist, beautiful island, country side of Hawaii. You get the full island vibe. Here are some fun things to do:

Helicoptor Tour
Snorkeling at any beach you prefer in North Shore
Waimea Canyon to see lookout (Grand Canyon like view Hawaii style)

Drive around the island to check everything out.
If you like Japanese food, I would suggest Kintaro. The steaks are awesome, the sushi & seafood are fresh!
Air Kauai helicopter tour was great.
Waimea Canyon was awesome.
Jojo's Shave Ice on the road to Waimea, best shave ice on Kauai.
House of Noodles in Kapa'a doesn't look like much but the food was great, especially from the Hawaiian entrees near the back of the menu.
Sunset dinner at the Beach House near Poipu.
