How tough can it be to live on an island like the hawaiians?

Travel Tips
in the modern world, a bit more expensive. since a lot of the things like clothes are not manufactured in the islands, they have to be shipped or flown in from the mainland, causing the increase of price. most things cost a dollar more than they do in the mainland Source(s): i took a vacation there and checked out savemart and costco and compared the prices to that of California's prices

If you are a young white man, it can be VERY tough.
What makes you think life on the Hawaiian Islands is any easier than in the continental US?

In answer to your question - since you obviously don't know anything about Island life, it can be very tough on you. They have a different culture and it is not likely that you will ever be able to completely fit in.
Most of the islands don't have much of a Hawaiian population now about 9% I think. Asians make up the majority of the population 43% I think from the last US Census.

Niihau is the only "true" Hawaiian island and you can not go there unless your Hawaiian, so it would be very "tough" for you there... LOL

Aloha
I'm not sure what you mean by "like" a Hawaiian. They eat, they sleep, they work and they raise their families just like the rest of us. The difference is they are the minority on their own land.
Hawaiians are the poorest people on Oahu. The way of life they held dear is almost non existent. Did you know that just over 100 years ago Hawaii was ruled by a Queen? Did you know that most Hawaiian children cannot even speak Hawaiian?
Did you know that modern "progress" has the bones of their ancestors flowing up out of the dirt under Walmart and Sam's Club?
Did you know that the last remaining Hawaiian school was under fire last year all the way to the Supreme Court because they only allowed children with at least some Hawaiian blood to attend? Its a private school, receives no state or government funding and was created and given to the Hawaiian people by THEIR queen.
The majority of the homeless on Oahu are displaced Hawaiians who could no longer afford to live in their own homes. That their homes were bought for a fraction of what they were sold for or what they were worth?
How tough can it be to live on an island like the Hawaiians?
You would be hard pressed to find a Hawaiian who could answer that question for you. They have not been allowed to live "like" Hawaiians for decades now.
