Travel Tips The official NOAA website states that the average water temp in December on Oahu is 77 degrees, I would have thought it to be colder, but I think the more you are in the water here, the winter months feel cold to the locals, for a visit it should feel wonderful! If you're going to just the beach (Waikiki or Ala Moana), then the temp will be in the 60's on average. Water temperature should be within the 70's F. Although the climate is normally cooler during the winter months, it doesn't have that much of an affect on the ocean temperature, especially the massive Pacific Ocean. The air temperature makes the ocean temperature feel cooler than what it actually is if you were to swim in it for a period of time. Perfect. The water temp usually ranges from low 70's to mid 80's depending on the weather that day. Unlike the mainland, we sometimes have periods of bright sunny days (ala summer) in the wintertime and the water temp is afffected by that. In the winter, the water is usually pretty warm.....it's the getting out that's not so nice (with the wind). You definately can swim in your regular swim suit without a problem. Happy travels! |
