We're looking for a new home. Any ideas? |
Travel Info We have a sailboat, which we sail a lot, and we're looking for a sweet little town near or on a lake somewhere in the east/south Texas area, maybe around Houston. Does anyone know of such a place? We have no real ideas yet and we're open to anywhere really between Texas and Florida, along the coast as we want to sail in the ocean from time to time. Travel Tips In addition to the aforementioned Kemah and Clear Lake, there is Seabrook, also in that area. Don't listen to those who claim that a hurricane obliterated Galveston (New Orleans is 300 miles east) or that with the weather you won't do outdoor entertaining. Seabrook, Kemah (both of those especially) and Clear Lake are on the water. There's a breeze, and temperatures are, on average, five to ten degrees cooler than Houston's downtown or inland suburb areas. Those areas are also a little warmer in the winter than Houston, which does get a few freezes every year. A couple of tiki torches, a grill, and a cooler and you're in business. There are a number of marinas in the Seabrook, Kemah, and Clear Lake area. My family used to berth a sailboat (26' Chesapeake) in Seabrook back in the 80s. Others milan, italy Screw the boat and all that stuff. Become more adventurists and move to Brooklyn N.Y. or The South Bronx.... I think that you should move to Raliegh, North Carolina. Clear Lake is a nice community not far from Houston. NASA is located there. It's also near Galveston Bay and not far from Kemah... all sailing destinations. Google it for more info and a map. Kemah, league city, or Clear Lake. They are very close to the water. Kemah especially there are a ton of boats out there by the Boardwalk. Both places are very hot and humid in June July Aug and sept. Don't plan on much outdoor entertaining during those months. |
