Travel Tips Since you didn't mention quality of neighborhood, the cheapest places in Houston to rent are north and east of the downtown area. Also to the south and southeast are less desirable neighborhoods and even lesser rent. Right next to Hobby airport are some apartments that rent for almost nothing! If you're looking for a better neighborhood, you might want to try the Galleria area or the inner loop area. Rents are cheaper the further south you get, so you might want to try some of the apartments on Braeswood... Hope this helps! Others try montrose area Mike h is right. Cheap rent, a true cultural mix, close to downtown, theatre district, and public transportation to go anywhere in the city. Heights area also can be pretty cheap. Careful, the cheaper you go, the worse the neighborhood will be. Compared to the rest of the country, rent is pretty cheap here, even for a really nice place. There are a number of places, but if you clarified more we could be of better help. There are apartments in areas like Gulfton that advertise one and two months free rent, but your stuff will probably be gone by the time you get home. Ditto with Club Creek and all those other overbuilt apartment areas. Cop cars start rolling in around noon, when all the gangbangers wake up, and don't leave until dawn. And no, you don't want to live on Braeswood either. Crime statistics are heading off the charts. |
