Where to live in Texas if I will be working in Pasadena? |
Travel Info I am relocating from Michigan, and I will be working in Pasadena. I don't want to have to drive more than 45 minutes max to work. What nice cities would you recommend to live in that falls within that drive time? I've heard NOT to live in Pasadena itself. Thanks! Travel Tips Nice -- Not Pasadena :) To avoid traffic, you probabaly will want to live on that side of the city. I would not recommend going east -- Baytown, Beaumont, etc. The best options going a little south would be Alvin or Pearland. Alvin (and the area around it) has a reputation for a "small town feel". To the north a little, you might try Kingwood (OK) or Deer Park (a bit nicer & more expensive). Note that anything on that side -- especially those near the gulf -- will have some concern during Hurricane season. We have a really good online real estate service in Houston. Check it out, and you can get a really good idea about property values, schools, etc. www.har.com (Houston Area Realtors). Good luck! Others Where I would recommend depends on your life style. If you are the boating and outdoor recreation type I would recommend Clear Lake, especially South Shore Harbor area. This is close to Kemah with restaurants and entertainment. If you want a small town rural feel, with great schools, then I recommend Friendswood. There is still some rural type home sites here, but also neighborhoods. Whichever place you choose, welcome to the area. I made the move from Michigan 20 years ago and have never had a moment of regret. Pearland would be a good bet. It is not far from the tollway, and neither is Pasadena. It is ten miles or so away. Ten miles south of Pearland is Alvin, where Nolan Ryan grew up. Anywhere, but Pasadena! I'm sorry that your stuck with working in Pasadena first off, but around the Pasadena area....Pretty much there's really not alot ot choice from. The traffic is bad out that way. You might want to try the Texas City/Clearlake area, Friendswood, Kingwood (a little bit of a drive), I'm not familiar with the N. Shore area (but some people that I worked with lived out that way) Best of luck! |
