How is the public transportation system in Houston? |
Travel Info Just need it to get to HCC and back (probably SW or Central campus). Simple, safe, fast? What are the people like that use it? Just want to feel secure cuz I'll be alone and repeating the same trip every few days....Thanks! Travel Tips Well there is transportation all over Houston, wether it be a bus, the rail, or taxi. I had to take the bus home for one semester and it wasn't that bad it was just really hot outside thats all. I went to HCC central and then I would take the Rail to downtown and then wait for about 20 min. for my bus to show up. It is simple and fast and it can be safe if you don't feel comfortable sitting with someone else just put your bag on the chair next to you until you see a woman so she can sit next to you. Just bring a CD player or something else to listen to because sometimes the rides can take a while depending on where your going. Look to be honest I don't know if you feel secure, because i don't know what kind of person you are, but your going to have to get used to it, because thats how life is. All im saying is don't be scared to ride the bus, I wasn't.... bye :o) Others Public transportation in Houston is very very limited but safe for the most part. http://www.ridemetro.org/ Carry mace with you because there are some mental patients/street people that hang around some of the bus stops downtown + HCC downtown is right by the bayou so alot of them are down that way. You should be fairly safe. all we have is a bus, and it's not safe it sucks I road the bus after work sometimes. Yes I felt out of place, but not really scared. Maybe at night I would. I'd ride it again, however I would dress down. Don't be wearing a nice shirt or expensive things. On the bus you'd be fine probably, but maybe people might follow you from the bus stop. You just gotta be street wise like any othert city. |
