In October? Negligible. Once those first few cold fronts come through at the end of September, higher pressure keeps storms away from the Texas coast.

Once past September they're pretty much done with this part of Texas. Last October storm was TS Matthew in 2004. It didn't do much damage, and left a whole whopping five inches of rain in Galveston (I got that much last Wednesday during the afternoon).

Then again, in 2005 Wilma destroyed large portions of the Yucatan peninsula in late October. Of course the Yucatan is 750 miles southeast of us.

if your anywhere near the coast, more than likely your plans will be affected by the weather. definitely count on hurricanes and storms.
Yep, probably will be a strong chance. 60-65% chance.
It peaks more around the late summer & fall than early summer, but Allison came around the first week of June, so we can still see some action early, but it would be more of tropical storms than really bad hurricanes. Most that hit TX aren't 5's. They are twos or threes. Rita and Katrina were overdue, and we don't normally see that sort of strong action too often.
Hurricane season runs until November. Oct is late in the season but you have just as much chance of a hurricane as any other part of the hurricane season. The Hurricane center does not make forecast per month but per season and 2007 will be a heavy season for Atlantic Ocean storms. BTW. the Gulf of Mexico is included in the Atlantic Ocean.
