How is living in Texas near coast? |
Travel Info I have been thinking of moving to Texas somewhere near the coast.Where is best? cheapest? Travel Tips There's always the Lake Jackson/Freeport area.... it's nice place to raise a family. The cost of living down here is fairly cheap. If you're a single man/woman the social scene down here is fairly limited. But Houston is only an hour away, and there's tons of stuff to do there. It's right on the coast. Most of the jobs in this area are chemical plant based jobs. Overall it's a nice area. It can be a little on the conservative and redneck side though... For the most part I like living here. Source(s): I live in Lake Jackson Other Travel Tips Well it would be fine if people here didn't act like they live in California when they don't. To answer your question, it's like living in a southern state with southern accents. The best area? South Padre, or Corpus Christi. The cheapest? Surfside, closer to Galveston. It isn't built up yet (like Galveston, Corpus, or Padre). Oh, and ignore AJ above. She hasn't been the same since they stopped making D cell batteries. I like living here. If you are looking for a tropical paradise the Gulf coast of Texas is not where you will find it. But it is nice and much more affordable than Fl or CA. Best and cheapest to you need to consider a medium size city. Corpus Christi, TX would be that city. It's in the center of the state. It is not as big as Galveston so it does not have much of the big city problems and it is not a small tourist town like South Padre. http://www.corpuschristi-tx-cvb.org/...
