What happen 2 astroworld? |
Travel Info My aunt told me that it got torn down due to low admission.and some gangs were there.Eh I never did like it but I'm just wondering,is all. Travel Tips It closed on October 30th, 2005. My wife and I were there that last day. The property was sold to some developers from Katy. A number of factors killed Astroworld. 1) High daily prices kept people who wanted to see it once or twice a year away. 2) Low season ticket prices worth less than two days admission invited in the wrong element. Some parents used Astroworld as a summer babysitter. Gangbangers found a cheap place to hang out with little police presence. 3) The admission policies in 1) and 2) guaranteed a low average daily revenue. 4) Six Flags relegated Astroworld as the graveyard of crappy rides. Some were over 20 years old. 5) The park was run-down. One thing my wife noticed was several coats of paint on everything. 6) The neighborhood. The area demographic changed from the day the park opened until it closed and the neighborhood went downhill. There was a fair amount of vandalism. I'll miss the place. Then again, my fondest memories are of the time period of 1980-83. My buddies and I would go there maybe once every two weeks on Friday nights when admission was $3 with a specially-marked empty can of Coke. We were college guys who picked up high school and college girls. Others Yes, it was torn down and the land has either sold or is for sale. Yes, they had a few gang related problems. The value of the land was greater than the amusement park on it. Native Houstonian and former season pass holder Yes it was torn down and now flatened...sure looks wired to drive by and not see astroworld there. william so right and props to him and well they had that cool twister ride other then that pretty run down and shity know not in a bad area near i 10 sort of i mean not area of town is bad no way just near the high way William pretty much summed it all up. The 80's era was my time and i loved it.....things changed and now Astroworld is just a memory Quite simple the owner went bankrupt. |
