Is it just me or does it seem like houston is the most boring city ever?

Travel Info
yah we have nasa but that is kinda boring and a one day thing. No one plans a full week vacation here. They closed astroworld and almost closed splashtown.

Travel Tips
It's must be just you. Houston is one of the places to be. Sure they closed down Astroworld but Houston have some features that will grab someone's attention.

I guess you have not been out there much. I grew up in Portland Oregon and lived there for 33 years and have been here in Houston for a year and there is alot more to do here in Houston then there is in other cities like Portland and Seattle. If you need more of a life then move to New York City if your looking for more.
You have a point -- it's a better city to live in than to visit, unlike many others. But...it all depends on what you're looking for. Houston has a really impressive museum district, a tremendous diversity of good, relatively cheap restaurants, a lot of shopping, and easy access to both Gulf beaches and the Hill Country. If you're young and broke none of that may seem appealing, but houston is on the rise as a yuppie destination :)
There's a lot more to life here than Astroworld, Dude. Put down the remote, turn off the X-Box, go outside, and do something.

Besides, when Astroworld closed down in '05, it was pretty much gangbanger territory. Splashtown was in a location (Spring) that the rest of Houston didn't want to drive 40 miles to go to. That's life.

There's a lot more to do here than just hang out.
I know what you mean. When my relatives come to visit for the week, they are always bored out of their minds because all there seems to do is shopping in Houston - Galleria, Katy Mills, Memorial, First Colony, etc etc. Not too much here as far as vacation leisure. NASA is boring, and I miss Astroworld. I suppose there is Kemah boardwalk, and at worst you can drive an hour to Galveston for Moody Gardens or the beach or something.

Personally however, I kinda enjoy this city, having lived here for 17 years of my life. I'm a big fan of the museum district, and I do like the malls here. I also enjoy the chinatown area very much. And I wouldn't say Houston is the most boring city ever...it just might seem that way if you're from the east or west coast, where all the exciting cities are. =P
Most people who post here want a full list of everything so they can choose how to make the best of their week. There is enough to do to make more than a week vacation. You must be very young and not able to get out enough.
You must be new to the city. Houston is popping. Go get a Houston Press newspaper. Its free and has all the happenings around town
