Travel Tips While in Houston be sure to visit NASA (call to see where they are offering money off coupons), the Houston Zoo, all of the museums (the Children's Museum on Binz in the Museum District is a fantastic place for kids and admission is only $5 each and you can take lunch to eat there in their park or the snack bar is not expensive). Both Nasa and the Children's Museum are all day excursions. Visit Galveston. Once there go to the Strand, the Bishop's Place, Sea Wolf Park on Pelican Island, take the ferry over to the Bolivar Peninsular and go to Crystal Beach about 1/2 mile down on the right. Go to Schlitterbahn, a huge water park in Galveston, visit the museums there. Get on line before the dates of your vacation to see what else you would like to do here. There is sooooooo much to do in Houston. Try these sites: NASA http://www.spacecenter.org/ The Children's Museum http://www.cmhouston.org/ City Vistor Site http://www.visithoustontexas.com/visitor... (There is a section with 34 things to do that cost $2 or less each---a great value for a family or a group) The Houston Chronicle Newspaper Website http://www.chron.com/ Check this website on Thursdays (under Entertainment) to see what is up and coming for the weekend. Others i live in houston and to be completely honest i don't know much. you can go to the theater... i think they're showing spamalot by monty python. there's an aquarium, a zoo, galveston beach, which is alright if you go to the right spot. don't hope for much surfing. you can also hear the symphony, go to the natural history museum, there's an observatory. minute maid park is there and you could see the astros play baseball if you were really bored. anyway, good luck!! You should try visiting the galleria Its alongside 610 which is basically a huge circle going around houston... Try going to katie mills mall(I-10 west)... or maybe even go visit the monument going I-10 east... as you go to the monument you get to ride a ferry if you go this way.. great if you have kids. Theres also a great restaraunt there at the other end of the ferry ride. Just ask for directions, but I would suggest getting a map... Houston isn't as great a city as it used to be... the people I mean. Im the source I used to live there for three years.... Johnson Space Center, Six Flags, etc. Just check out http://www.visithoustontexas.com/visitor... Johnson Space Center all the way. It's fun and you learn things while your there. What could be better? Hey, I'm biased though, I want to be an astronaut! Take them to the Chocolate Bar of West Alabama... homemade icecream and deserts -- amazing! Also, I think it's cool to grab some coffee or tapioca and look out over one of the bridges on 59. Try Hazard street over 59 -- its a cool view to watch the traffic go under. Waterwall by the galleria is a must Thrifty shopping off Westheimer ( buffalo exchange is my favorite ) |
