I have not been to a state park that was not nice. It really depends on what part of Texas you want to visit. We are blessed in the fact that our state parks are maintained nicely.

Chain O' Lakes http://www.colresort.com (they have updated this place a lot but it's still fun... they have nice cabins or your can bring tents and RVs... there are gators though!!!

As a kid, I loved going to Jellystone park in Hempstead. It was fun!
