Can a child having chicken pox disease fly from Kerala to Hyderabad and if yes what does he/she needs to do? |
Travel Info My duaghter is having chicken pox and needs to travel to Hyderabad from Kochi urgently. Will the airlines people allow it and what formalities do we need to adhere? Travel Tips Have her innoculated. Airlines, normally do not allow passengers with chicken-pox , which is the correct thing to do. Chicken- pox is HIGHLY contagious. Imagine a reverse situation. Would you like your daughter to travel in the same plane ( and catch the infection), if someone else with chicken pox was travelling in it ? It will be better if you take a train to Hyderabad. Book an AC 1st class coupe, so that she remains separated from other travellors.It costs the same. Please do contact the Airlines for information. I hope your problem is sorted out. My best wishes. Others Chicken pox is considered a contageous virus and it can be spread in the air should your child cough or sneeze or by direct contact which will cause a domino effect since the air in the cabin is recycled during the flight. You could risk exposing an entire aircraft full of people who have never had the virus or been exposed to it or been immunized. Airlines will not allow any passengers to travel if they are obviously contageous. If your child is in the active stage with fever they can not travel. If it is in the scabbing phase, then its over and should be ok. You should have your child examined by a physician and let them decide if she is healthy enough to travel. If she still has obvious marks, have the physician write a letter of release stating she is not contageous and able to travel. Also, contact the airline if you need to make any changes to your tickets. You may need to provide documentation from your childs doctor to make any changes free of charge. I hope she gets better soon. I had the worst case of chicken pox on my first birthday and it was everywhere. I know well Airlines do not allow people with chicken pox. The reasons are already explained by others here. If the travel is pressing, call the local airlines/Deccan Airways or whatever and explain the situation. But avoid travel if its not pressing.
