Not a native, but I've been there and found a lot to do. For kids, the Ramoji Rao Film city is a must-see, but its a little way from Hbad.
Other places would be the Golconda Fort, the Hussein Sagar and associated attractions, the zoo and not to mention the parks in the city.

Please dont miss the Salah Jung museum but check which day of the week it is closed. It is quite different from other museums and has many fascinating exhibits. Another must see is the Golconda fort, quite an experience. Children will love it. For ladies, shopping is also good - pochampalli saris, ikat fabrics, trinkets, pearls etc. Hyderabad kalakand is also famous.
