What can you tell me about Spencer and/or Bloomington, Indiana? |
Travel Info Hey, I just got a job offer at a company out in Spencer, Indiana. I'm from NJ and went to school in Boston, haven't been out there yet but might need to decide about it unseen. Anyway, if you know anything about it, I want to know about the climate (the winters), what the scenery is like the people, the commute between Spencer and Bloomington, the college there, basically any general or detailed info you can give me that will help me get an idea of the place. If you could compare it in context to Boston, that'd help. Keep in mind I've never been to the midwest at all, except Ohio once. Thanks a bunch! Travel Tips Spencer is very country-- not at all like boston. Bloomington isn't like Boston either-- a little more run down--- I think the college keeps it afloat. The commute between the Spencer and Bloomington isn't bad. The college is great-- you couldn't ask for any better college except IUPUI in Indy. In both places the country is beautiful-- great wildlife, hunting and fishing. Culturally, it is a bit white-bread and there are not many cultural attractions in either place. Others I hope Howie made it here. The remark about a lack of cultural attractions in Bloomington is unfathomable. I've lived here for 34 years, and I can't even begin to keep up with what this city has to offer. Bloomington is a great college town (IU) and tends to have a seasonal population increase/decrease depending on whether school is in session or not. An island of liberalism in a sea of conservatism. Great restaurants and very eclectic cuisine. Nice local winery. Good cultural and theatre events. Friendly people. http://www.city-data.com/city/spencer-in... http://www.bloomington.in.gov/ howie, i just left Trenton, and i know the countryside around there, I also just happen to be very familar with Spencer and Bloomington. Spencer is my stomping ground. I hunted and fished that countryside for years. Very country , not much of a town, great people however! Bloomington, hell ya! Go IU. Can you guess where I went to school. Seasons are about the same as N.J. Winters are not as bad , thank god, right ! Well , does that cover it ? Good luck. Fish Mill Creek. You'll know where. Turkey hunting all down Rattlesnake Rd . Indiana is gods country, you'll love it. Oliver Winery in Bloomington makes the best soft red wine ever! |
