New to indiana?

I'm moving from southern California to west Laf. indiana. are there some things i should look out for?

There isn't a lot to do in West Lafeyette, unless you attend Purdue University or are college-aged. Many people complain that it smells really weird. It's a college town completely surrounded by farms and small farm villages, so it's fairly isolated. But if you are college-aged, there are some nightclubs/coffee shops/other places of recreation.
Well for sure Indiana is a big change from SoCal. Lafayette and West Lafayette are typical midwestern rural communities with a nice small town appeal. You will find the pace a lot slower than SoCal. You will find all the same things you found out west like fast food and pretty good shopping. There is no ocean and the closest body of water is Lake Schafer (sp). It gets cold and it snows in the winter. Summers are hot and humid and the occasional tornado can be witnessed.

All that said, it is a good, wholesome place to live and raise your kids...if you have them. And the infamous White Castles you have always heard about, well you can get them anytime you want in Lafayette.

Undue Perversity...I mean Purdue University is one of the largest employers in the area and Saturday afternoons in the fall are some of the most fun-filled and beautiful anywhere.

Do try and enjoy it. It will leave its mark on you.

transportation is not very good out there .....so u should have some side plans for transportation .....
Overall, Indiana is pretty boring.
And, on a lighter note, watch out for Illinois drivers. Illinoisans will tell you that Indiana drivers are insane, but...they're wrong, lol.
My aunt moved from Terre Haute, IN, to Shiloh, IL, and she's a very crappy driver now...

Oh, and if you have allergies when you're outdoors, spring, summer, and fall will be rather hellish.
