Your best bet would be to get out of Carmel and to go downtown or to Broadripple (which caters more to the younger twenties crowd). For dancing check out Peppers (no cover for girls) or the Vogue. For a band, check out Peppers upstairs or the Alley Cat. Downtown, there is Howl Out the Moon (jazz bar with dueling pianos), Have a Nice Day Cafe (good for dancing), or if you just want to hang out, there are a couple more assorted clubs you can find. There is a salsa night at the Vault on Saturdays, if you are into that. If you just want a laid back bar, Moon Dog Tavern, the Claduagh, and Bahama Breeze are all nice bars to hang out at. They are all located on 96th Street, about ten minutes from Carmel. There is also a ton of cool restuarants to check out in Carmel, downtown, and in Broadripple. You can visit the Indiana Art Museum for free, the 500 practices are going on now, so you can go out to the Speedway for the day. There is a zoo and a series of gardens that you can visit downtown. There are also some nice museums, monuments, and shopping both downtown and over in Castleton and Keystone Mall, which are both on the north-northeast side of Indianapolis by Carmel.

If you play golf, go to pebble beach or spy glass. absolutely awesome ant they serve a killer long island at the 19 hole...err sorry dude that's Carmel California
