Day Trip from Indianapolis, Indiana? |
Travel Info I want to take my wife on a day trip. I would like to go somewhere within 3 to 4 hours of Indianapolis. She is pregnant, so hiking is kind of out of the question, but we love scenic drives and historical sites. Any suggestions? Travel Tips Just 3 hrs south you will find Clifty Falls State Park. It is a beautiful place to take a drive. You can drive along the Ohio River and check out Madison and further up the road is a little town called Vevay. Both places have antique shops and local eateries that are cozy. You will find historical sites along the way and if you want a place to stay there are some nice Bed-N-Breakfasts to choose from. Further up the road you may check out Belterra Casino. It is full of places to eat and other things to do besides gambling. My Grandparents would take this drive quite often, they loved it. My husband and I have stayed at the Belmark Inn there in Vevay. And do check it out when you are able to hike again for you must see the falls up close. There is also a tunnel that was left unfinished that you can go through if you are brave enough. So, I highly recommend a trip to Southern Indiana, winding your way along the scenic route of the Ohio River.
