What can I do with $300 USD for 3 weeks in Jakarta? |
Travel Info Is that enough for shopping? I like shoes =P Travel Tips Like all other capital cities, Jakarta isn't cheap. With $300 for 3 weeks don't go shopping at the brand stores, you pay roughly the same price as you would at home. For more of a budget option there's malls in Mangga Dua - the ITC Mangga Dua and the Pasar Pagi mangga Dua are cheaper options. Cheap food is easy to find but it depends if you feel comfortable eating at the outdoor food stalls or if you'd rather eat in restaurants. The malls usually have good cheap food halls though. You could always go to Anchol and visit the amusement parks and the beach. If you want cheaper shopping, go stay in Bandung for a few days (mid-week is better as hotels are cheaper, lots of tourists from Jakarta go to Bandung for weekends). There's loads of cheap malls and factory outlets there (CiMol is like a thrift market- really cheap, also King's shopping mall, IP, Paris van Java, FOs on Jl Dago...) and it's only a couple of hours from Jakarta. Don't forget to account for travel costs- if you don't fancy using the local angkots or buses then taxi costs can get expensive. Source(s): Lived in Java for a couple of years. Other Travel Tips It depend how you'll spend it. for me you have to be tight with everything, and not much you can do for $300 I grew up there USD $300 is about Rp. 300,000. That's pretty good for shopping. The local shoes & clothes are pretty cheap. Just don't go to high-end stores. If you go to local markets, you can bargain and get even lower prices. Food is cheap, especially if you eat Indonesian food. They usually have cheap food places in the malls or by the streets. I grew up in Jakarta ...Chiapet159, just want to tell you that $300 is 3 million rupiah. Indo not that very very cheap tau... You can buy lots of things to let you know. |
